Wat doet een plaatje van een MP3 speler op het web-log van een wijnmaker ???
In de eerste plaats is het natuurlijk heerlijk om tijdens het bottelen van een wijn naar je favoriete muziek te luisteren. Maar er is meer.
Voor de onwetende wijnmakers onder ons even wat uitleg.
Met het populair worden van Internet zijn er een aantal enthousiastelingen die een soort van radio-programma's zijn gaan maken. Deze programma's worden niet via de radio uitgezonden, maar staan op verschillende websites op internet. Voordeel is dat je ze daardoor kunt downloaden en beluisteren wanneer jij dat wil. Je kunt ze op je computer beluisteren of vanaf je computer op je MP3 speler zetten.
Een dergelijk programma noemen we een Podcast.
Ik neem mijn MP3 speler dan ook altijd mee op reis of vakantie en dan kan ik in verloren uurtjes naar mijn favoriete muziek, hoorspelen, gemiste actualiteiten programma's of wijnmaker programma's luisteren.
Wijnmaker programma's ??? Inderdaad er zijn 3 verschillende podcasts die speciaal voor de hobby wijnmaker worden gemaakt.
Ik kan me voorstellen dat jullie niet wisten dat er speciale wijnmaker podcasts zijn. Laatst stelde iemand als vraag op een Amerikaans forum of er wel podcasts waren voor wijnmakers.
En aangezien ik vermoed dat niet alleen die Amerikaan zich niet bewust was van de beschikbare podcasts geef ik hier de links naar de podcasts die ik gevonden heb.
Als eerste is er de Podcast van het Amerikaanse Winemaker Magazine:

Deze podcast bespreekt onder andere een aantal methoden die wijnmakers gebruikten die op festivals prijzen met hun wijn hebben gewonnen.
De tweede Podcast is van Winemaking Radio:

In deze podcast waarvan al 30 afleveringen zijn gemaakt bespreekt de presentator Robert Linder allerlei onderwerpen. Hij intervieuwt zowel hobby wijnmakers als fabrikanten van kits en gisten en professionals.

Bij deze programma's zijn er twee presentatoren: Dave en The Other Guy die samen alle facetten van het wijnmaken bespreken in een min of meer humoristische stijl. Vaak is het ongein, maar voor beginners komt er af en toe nuttige informatie voorbij. Er zijn al 64 afleveringen gemaakt. Ook deze twee presentatoren claimen wat prijzen te hebben gewonnen met hun wijnen en geven tips om goede wijn te maken in hun programma.
Nadeel is dat alle Podcasts in het engels zijn Voordeel is dat je ze kunt downloaden op je computer of MP3 speler en luisteren wanneer je zelf wil.
Mochten er lezers van het wijnmaker web-log zijn die nog andere wijnmakers podcasts weten dan hoor ik dat graag.
En voor degenen onder ons die een MP3 speler hebben die ook video kan weergeven raad ik aan eens bij youtube.com naar winemaking te zoeken. Honderden filmpjes van amateurs en professionals komen naar boven die je kunt bekijken of ook weer downloaden.

What on earth is a picture of an MP3 player doing on the web-log of a winemaker ???
Well in tyhe first place it is of course nice to play your favorite music while bottling. But there is more.
First for the winemakers who have lived on another planet some explanation.
When the internet grew more and more popular a few fanatics started a kind of radio show. These programs are not actually transmitted. They are placed on several web-sites on the internet. The advantage is that you can download them and listen whenever you want. You can listen to these programs on your computer or put them on your MP3 player and listen 'on the road'.
Such programs are called Podcasts.
So I always take my MP3 player with me on trips or hollidays. And when there is a dull moment I can listen to my favorite music, radio play, missed news programs or winemaking programs.
Winemaking programs ???? Indeed there a 3 different podcasts that I know off that are made especially for the home winemaker.
Recently the question arose on an US winemaking forum which podcasts were available for the home winemaker. I presume the questioner was not the only one who was not aware of the available podcasts.
Of course when you do a search on google with the keywords wine and podcast several hundred hits come along. But most of these are podcasts about drinking wine, tasting notes and pairing wine with food.
Therefore I present you here the Winemaking podcasts that I have found.
First there is the Podcast of the US Winemaker Magazine:

This podcast discusses amongst other things tips from award winning winemakers.
The second Podcast is made by Winemaking Radio:

In this podcast of which more as 30 shows have been made the host Robert Linder discusses all kinds of winemaking subjects. He interviews hobby winemakers as well as kit and yeast manufacturers and professionals from the winebusiness.
And then there is Cellar Dwellers:

In this show there are two hosts: Dave and The Other Guy. Together they discuss all steps in winemaking in a more or less humoristic way. A lot of it is humbug, nevertheless some usefull information, for the beginners amongst us, comes along. They have made already 64 shows. And the hosts claim they have won some prices with their wines and share their tips.
Those of you who have an MP3 player that can play video I recommend doing a search on youtube.com. Hundres of movies from amateurs or professionals can be found there. You can look at them online or download these movies and watch them on your computer screen or on your MP3 player.
